Khan has established himself as one of Bollywood’s most prolific actors.His problems with girlfriends and the law earned him the reputation of “the bad guy from Bollywood” until later of a long litigation that ended on April 5, 2018, Khan was sentenced to 5 years in prison for poaching of protected species.
Salman Khan made his debut in 1988, in the movie Biwi Ho To Aisi where he played a secondary role. His first leading role was in the Sooraj R. Barjatya Maine Pyar Kiya film (1989). This film was one of the highest grossing offices in India.  He has won a Filmfare Award for Best Debut, and a nomination for a Film fare Award for Best Actor. Maine Pyar Kiya was India’s biggest hit in 1989, one of Bollywood’s highest grossing in the 80’s, and established Khan in the industry.
1990 saw only one film starring Khan, Baaghi. His movie Hum Aapke Hain Kaun with Madhuri Dixit is the fourth highest grossing movie in Hindi cinema. In 1995, the cult comedy by Rakesh Roshan Andaz Apna Apna. He won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and received his second nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
During the 2000s Khan had some successes such as Tere Naam (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and No Entry (2005). In 2008 he became the presenter of the telereality program 10 Ka Dum. He returned to the second season of 10 Ka Dum in 2009. The second highest grossing film of the year was the production of Prabhu Deva starring Khan Wanted.
After Veer’s failure in 2010, the parody film Dabangg broke many box office records. It is currently the second highest grossing film in the history of Bollywood.  Khan’s first film of 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, published Eid published positive reviews from critics and the public and broke several box office records after his release. The film found a record of the entire end of time to collect $ 1020 million (US $ 15 million) in its first weekend at the box office and became Salman Khan’s eighth consecutive film grossed over Rs 100 million.  The box office movie ₹ 1840000000 (US $ 27 million) in its first week beat the previous PK record.  Khan first and become a second Bollywood movie after PK to enter the 300 club.  The movie is currently the second second highest grossing Bollywood movies in India and worldwide with the collection of more than 600 million rupees.  Bajrangi Bhaijaan crossed Rs 300 million in the 20 days of its launch and became the second highest rude to date in India  
Since October 2015, Khan has completed the work at Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in which he plays the dual role. He has signed for director Ali Zafar Abbas’s next film, titled Sultan, produced by Yash Raj Films to be released on Eid 2016. The second Khan movie of 2015, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, released on Independence Day recently recognized mixed of critics and the public and broke several box office records after his release. The film became Salman Khan’s ninth consecutive film grossed over Rs 100 million. The film grossed ₹ 1.73 billion (US $ 27 million) in its first week. As of November 25 of the film $ 2.01 billion was raised, Khan is the only actor to give three backs to back movies that collects more than Rs. 200 million (US $ 30 million).
