What does the end of Article 370 mean?

The change brought by the BJP government did not result in Jammu and Kashmir being a state.

Now, instead of the state, Jammu and Kashmir will become two centrally-administered areas, one will be named Jammu and Kashmir and the other will be Ladakh, and the two areas will be managed by Lt Governor.

Jammu and Kashmir will have a legislative assembly, but there will be no assembly in Ladakh.

According to Amit Shah, the decision to make Jammu and Kashmir a centralized area has been taken in the context of security situation in the area and the alleged cross-border terrorism.

Only one Article 370 of the Articles has been retained, which states that the President shall be authorized to make changes and orders.

In addition, instead of the Chief Minister of Home Affairs of Jammu and Kashmir, he will come directly under the Federal Home Minister, who will run them through the Lieutenant Governor.
